• Adult fly: is about 5-7mm long, with a wingspan of about 10-13mm. Body is reddish brown with yellow patches, many black streaks. Female flies are larger than males and can be easily distinguished by the long pointed egg-laying tube at the female’s tail.
• Golden fly eggs: shaped like rice grains, about 1mm long, milky white. Eggs about to hatch turn pale yellow.
